Engelhard The American Prospector silver medallions were the first bullion-grade silver rounds minted and made available to the public. They were only made from 1982 to 1987, so have become harder to find, especially in excellent condition. Even though they may show some signs of wear, they are popular with collectors due to their history.
Engelhard Silver Rounds
The obverse of the 1oz .999 silver medallion depicts a prospector panning for gold in a stream. Inscriptions include U.S.A., THE AMERICAN PROSPECTOR and the issue year. The reverse image varied over the years of issue, and may feature the Engelhard logo or an eagle carrying a flag and olive branch. The weight (one troy ounce) and purity (999 fine silver) are also included on the reverse.
